Wind Power in West Texas

We recently went to visit our son and daughter-in-law in New Mexico. Driving toward Lubbock we were startled to see the extent to which the electric companies have begun harnessing the wind for electric power. We drove miles and miles through what seemed to be a forest of tall, stately wind turbines, each one with deceptively fast blades cranking smoothly around in the ever-present west-Texas wind.

I had a sudden feeling of claustrophobia in the middle of the wide-open prairie of west Texas--a most disconcerting feeling!

It's great to see power produced in a way that does not depend on fossil fuels, but what unknown and unseen damage is being done in this, one more greedy grab for resources on our fragile earth?
